The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS

The 70-200 is the lens without any drawbacks. At first my arm hurt a bit when carrying it up a mountain for 3 hours, but after the fourth time it felt totally normal having about 3 kg in my hand. The reason for it being so heavy is that it built like a tank, metal under the white paint, solid tripod collar and a very sturdy lens hood. Also all that glass that’s necessary for all that light to pass through the lens adds to its weight. The zoom ring is in the perfect place for your hand to rest on the tripod collar while you can turn it with the thumb. The focus ring is decent. While it is precise it doesn’t feel as nice as the one of the Sigma. For that the autofocus is blazingly fast and incredibly accurate, especially when paired with a sports oriented camera body (I use it with the Canon EOS 7D). The lens has very nice neutral colors and is very sharp. At 2.8 chromatic aberrations can appear in very high contrast areas. But otherwise the image quality is incredibly good and there’s nothing to complain about.

With this lens you achieve amazing results, far away from any kit lens or even standard tele zooms with a smaller aperture. There’s no phone that can even try to compete with a camera and this lens attached to it. It changes the way you take pictures und the kind of pictures you can make.
